Your questions answered honestly

How do I know my child is actually attending?

Your parent portal on the UMM platform shows your child's attended sessions as a ratio — for example 4 of 6 sessions attended — and their average participation rate across sessions. This updates after every session. You do not need to ask your child whether they attended. You can see it yourself.

What is in the AI session summary I receive after every session?

The summary covers what topic was taught in the session, what the most common errors were among students in the Drill phase, what your child's facilitator recommends they practise before the next session, and the session exit ticket results. It arrives via WhatsApp within 30 minutes of the session ending.

Can I cancel if my child is not benefiting?

Yes. UMM operates on a monthly basis. If after the first month you do not feel the sessions are making a difference, you simply do not renew. There is no long-term contract, no cancellation fee, and no obligation beyond the current month paid.

Is my payment information secure? Do you store my card details?

UMM does not use card payments and does not store any card details. Payment is made directly from your own banking app via PayShap — instant bank-to-bank transfer — or by EFT. No third-party processor holds your financial information.

How quickly is my child activated after I pay?

Within 2 hours of payment confirmation during business hours. You send proof of payment to uni.maths.mastery@unimathsmastery.com or WhatsApp it to +27 61 009 5548. We create the UMM platform account and send your child their login details before the next session.

Is UMM affiliated with or endorsed by the University of Pretoria?

No. UMM is an independent registered South African company in the private academic coaching space. UMM is not affiliated with UP, does not hold any UP endorsement, and does not use UP's materials or branding. UMM pursues constructive relationships with UP but operates independently.

My child is studying remotely — is UMM fully online?

Yes. Every session is delivered live online via the UMM platform. There is no on-campus requirement. Students join from anywhere with a stable internet connection.

Who are the facilitators — what qualifications do they hold?

UMM facilitators are Masters candidates, PhD candidate/graduates, or recently completed postgraduates in the exact discipline they teach. They are not undergraduate tutors. Every facilitator has passed the modules they facilitate and been through UMM's orientation and dry-run process before their first live session.
